KOTA KINABALU: Kota Belud will be under a 14-day Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) effective October 13 at 12.01 midnight, following the spike in Covid-19 cases in the district.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the imposition which was agreed upon by the government is to curb the transmission of Covid-19 in the district and to enable targeted case tracing measures.

"Only two people from each household are allowed to go out to buy food supplies or other necessity items," he said in a virtual press conference, today.

Only essential services, including factories and other related essential services, are allowed to operate during the fortnight lockdown order, he added.

"Wholesale and agro markets, as well as convenience and grocery stores are allowed to operate.

“Restaurants and food stalls are also allowed to operate but only for drive-through, deliveries and take away,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Taman Khazanah Indah and PPR Mutiara Kasih, in Lahad Datu will also be placed under the two-week enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting Oct 13, from 12.01 midnight.

Ismail revealed that a total of 5,452 residents in the area will be affected by the EMCO and targeted screening of the residents in the affected areas will be conducted by the Health Ministry.

“Under the EMCO, all residents are required to comply with the set Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and are not allowed to leave their homes.

“Therefore, food supplies will be distributed by the Sabah state government coordinated by the State Disaster Operations Control Centre," he said.

Ismail stressed that all exit and entry routes in the EMCO areas are closed but applications for emergency cases such as deaths could be submitted to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
