Lamag Assemblyman Raises Concerns Over Road Repairs at Pan Borneo Briefing

10 February 2026
KINABATANGAN: Lamag State Assemblyman Mohd Ismail Ayub (Miha) has expressed concern over contractors’ failure to properly maintain existing roads during a briefing on the Pan Borneo Highway project at the Public Works Department (JKR) here.
The briefing covered progress updates for several work packages, namely Kampung Lot M–Sukau (WP26), Sukau–Kampung Perpaduan Datuk Moh (WP25) and Kampung Perpaduan Datuk Moh–Sungai Takala (WP24). It was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Works and Utilities, Datuk Seri Joachim Gunsalam.
Miha said there should be no compromise with contractors who neglect road maintenance, especially as road conditions in Lamag have frequently drawn public attention and criticism.

He urged the ministry to take proactive action against contractors who have failed to carry out proper repairs, noting that the appointed concessionaire’s contract had ended and that remedial works were still unsatisfactory.

Responding to the issue, Joachim said the matter must be addressed immediately by the relevant authorities, stressing that all parties must play their role to ensure road users are not continuously affected by damaged roads.
