Lion Dance a symbol of cooperation -Ewon

PENAMPANG: Lion dances exemplify the power of cooperation, coordination, and teamwork.


Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick said lion dancers must move in harmony, combining their efforts to create a seamless and captivating performance while another group ensure the safety and coordination of the group.


Speaking during the Chinese New Year Celebration at Putatan Mall today, he said these principles can be applied to governance to ensure effective, responsive and proactive actions.


He also urge the community leaders in the area to employ this norm of cooperation and communicate their needs to his office as MP so that it could be looked into immediately.


"You are the community leaders and Putatan residents and you are more knowledgeable about your needs here," he said.


According to Ewon, who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative (MEDC) in terms of entreprenual development there are many agencies under his ministry that could assist and offer consultative services to entrepreneurs.


"Potential entreprenuers and established members of the business community who wish to expand their businesses can look up these agencies for assistance and advice."


They are always responsive and helpful in assisting and information dissemination, he said.


According to him, his Ministry has 10 agencies to cater to entrepreneurs and two other entities such as the Bank Rakyat and SME under its purview.


"Those who wish to get loans can approach these banks," he stressed.


According to him, Amanah Ikhtiar and SME CORP are among the entities, as well as TEKUN.


"I have also established and launch a special grant for Sabah and Sarawak entrepreneurs in October last year," he said.


With all these establishment to help entrepreneurs in Sabah, the business community in Putatan can utilised these venue to start their business ventures or expand their business.


He commented that Putatan has grown in its development tremendously through the years and commended the community leaders of that area.


As Member of Parliament he is always open for discussion on any needs that concerns Putatan, he stressed.


Also present during the event were UPKO Putatan Division Chief Datuk Marcus Mojigoh, Political Secretary to the Minister Carl Mosoom and Chinese Community leaders in Putatan including organising chairman Poh Wing Hiung, representative of the Chinese Welfare Association Wong Yin Kong and Senior Citizen Activities Association chairperson Wong Hoon Shyn.
