SEPANG: Malaysia Airports, supported by CIDB Malaysia, has successfully concluded the Connect & Collaborate Vendor Roadshow 2025, with its final session held at Sama-Sama Hotel, KLIA, Sepang. Initiated and led by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), the nationwide roadshow, which took place across Sabah, Kelantan, Penang, and Sarawak, culminated in Sepang with over 250 participants.
This programme forms part of Malaysia Airports’ proactive strategy to strengthen its vendor ecosystem by attracting competent, reliable, and high-performing contractors capable of supporting the continuity and long-term sustainability of airport operations. The platform provided contractors with direct access to vital information on procurement opportunities, tender processes, and vendor registration, particularly in areas such as airport construction, maintenance, repair, and facility management—sectors many contractors previously found challenging to navigate.
Supported by CIDB Malaysia as the programme partner, the roadshow also ensured that contractors are aligned with national registration and accreditation requirements under Act 520. This collaboration links Malaysia Airports’ operational and infrastructural needs with CIDB’s regulatory expertise, creating a more resilient and well-equipped contractor ecosystem capable of supporting complex developments across Malaysia Airports’ extensive network of airports.
According to Malaysia Airports’ Managing Director, Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, “We value our longstanding collaboration with CIDB, especially in strengthening the capabilities of industry partners through certification and development programmes such as the Continuous Contractor Development (CCD). The vendor roadshow is a new initiative that enables us to further align industry capacity, technical strengths, and the challenges that influence project delivery. It also provides a strategic platform to identify areas where structured collaboration can enhance execution standards, bolster resilience across our contractor ecosystem, and ultimately support Malaysia Airports’ long-term infrastructure ambitions.”
CIDB Chief Executive, Zainora Zainal, stated, “Malaysia Airports requires competent, efficient, and high-quality contractors, and I am confident this programme helps contractors gain a clear understanding of those expectations. The roadshow fosters genuine networking and collaboration among contractors, clients, and financiers. It is also expected to assist Malaysia Airports in engaging the best new vendors, particularly among CIDB-registered contractors who meet the requirements, possess strong track records, and are prepared to undertake complex airport projects.”
“Additionally, this initiative aims to broaden contractors’ perspectives on their companies’ true potential. Many of our contractors are highly capable and have significant opportunities ahead of them. Today, the door is open, it is up to them to explore that potential and showcase their capabilities.”
The initiative focused on two primary objectives. Firstly, it introduced contractors to critical, high-impact projects across Malaysia’s airports, which serve as gateways to the nation. Secondly, financial institutions participated to address challenges related to working capital and cost management, providing contractors with direct access to business financing facilities. This practical approach went beyond traditional seminars, fostering genuine networking opportunities between contractors, clients, and financiers.
The programme featured comprehensive briefings on Malaysia Airports’ procurement processes, tender participation, and vendor registration, as well as CIDB’s contractor accreditation and compliance requirements. Attendees also engaged in networking exhibitions and one-on-one sessions with financial institutions. All registered participants who attended the event received 10 points towards their Continuous Contractor Development (CCD) requirements.
Both Malaysia Airports and CIDB Malaysia reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the national contractor ecosystem through ongoing collaboration. Malaysia Airports expressed confidence that the roadshow will help develop a more reliable and capable pool of contractors to support its complex airport operations nationwide. CIDB highlighted that partnerships with government-linked companies are crucial in elevating industry standards. Together, both organisations aim to deepen cooperation, create broader opportunities for local contractors, and promote sustainable industry growth.
The Connect & Collaborate Vendor Roadshow stands as a strategic platform designed to unlock new opportunities, foster transparency, and build long-term partnerships between Malaysia Airports and contractors.
