Entrepreneurs urged to seize government support opportunities: SAY

PUTATAN: Traders in Putatan, particularly in Tanjung Keramat, are encouraged to remain attentive to the types of assistance channelled by the government in its efforts to strengthen the local economic chain.

State Assemblyman for Tanjung Keramat, Shah Alfie Yahya (SAY), stated that the role of these groups, whether hawkers, small traders, or entrepreneurs, is to recognise the support channels provided by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He explained that such groups need to be savvy in taking advantage of available opportunities to empower their businesses, especially with the various initiatives introduced through Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 (SMJ2.0) recently.

“There are many plans introduced by the government, including the recent SMJ 2.0, which contains initiatives designed to assist traders.

“This includes the SME-UP initiative, human capital development, and others.

“For us at the DUN level, the aspiration to empower traders and entrepreneurs is part of the Tanjung Keramat economic agenda, where we will continually support the community as facilitators, working with government agencies or departments aligned with financing and startup support to strengthen the economic chain at our DUN level,” he said.

He made the remarks after officiating the Ukhwah Ramadan Bubur Lambuk programme organised by the Kota Kinabalu Entrepreneurs Club (KUSIKK) in collaboration with Sahabat Blok Petagas at Masjid Al-Mahabah, Kg Muhibbah, here, on Saturday.

Also present were Senior Branch Manager of Angkatan Ikrar Malaysia (AIM) Kota Kinabalu Branch, Adzam Supri; KUSIKK Chairperson; Wan Raizah Matsah; Community Development Leader (PPM) for Tanjung Keramat, Latip Jiar; and Community Development Officer, Tg Keramat, Syed Arizal Karim.

Meanwhile, commenting further on the programme, SAY said that besides enlivening the Ramadan month, such activities can be significant in engaging the public, local residents, and entrepreneurs.

“what is being organised is indeed beneficial while fulfilling our social responsibilities (CSR).

“We hope this can be continued in the future, not only during Ramadan, but also in other months, as part of efforts to introduce the clubs and programmes run by organisers such as AIM and KUSIKK,” he added.
