Maulidur Rasul celebration a platform to promote unity

SANDAKAN: The Maulidur Rasul celebration should not be viewed merely as an annual event, but as an important platform to strengthen bonds of unity and to instil the practice of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in daily life.

Appointed Assemblyman, Datuk Jaffari Waliam, said that the struggles and noble character of the Prophet must serve as the main guide for Muslims in facing various contemporary challenges.

“Maulidur Rasul should remind us that the success of the ummah is not measured solely by physical progress, but also by the strength of faith, morality, and unity. As long as we hold firmly to the noble character of the Prophet our society will remain strong and united,” he said.

He made these remarks when officiating the Maulidur Rasul 1447H/2025M celebration at Surau Al-Firdaus, Kampung Sinar Harapan Batu 24, here on Sunday.

Jaffari also called on the younger generation to emulate the Prophet’s character, particularly values of trustworthiness, discipline, and love of knowledge.

He said these values form a vital foundation for building a harmonious, progressive, and competitive society.

“When the community adheres to the teachings of the Prophet we are able to build a stronger society and further reinforce unity among the ummah in this state,” he said.

Jaffari also urged the people to continue supporting the present government to ensure continuity of development, political stability, and the well-being of the people of Sabah.

“Strong support from the people is essential for us to pursue the development agenda and ensure that the benefits of progress are shared by all, especially rural communities,” he said.

Chairman of Surau Al-Firdaus, Yusuf Syukur, said this year’s celebration received strong support from the local community, including from Datuk Jaffari himself, which reflected the deep love of Muslims for the Prophet Muhammad.

The event was enlivened by the recitation of selawat and qasidah by students of Tahfiz Imam Ghazali, as well as a religious lecture by Ustaz Mohd Nurzilan, who highlighted the importance of emulating the Prophet’s character.
