KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC), wants to transform it's staff and agencies into facilitators who guide and assist entrepreneurs, traders, and small-scale vendors in their application processes.
By doing so, he aims to ensure that the allocated budget is utilised effectively and that the target groups benefit from the provisions provided in the 2024 Budget.
Ewon wants KUSKOP staff and agencies to become facilitators for entrepreneurs' applications
"No matter how large the budget is, if it does not reach the target groups, they will certainly not benefit from it. That is why my ministry and I will ensure the successful implementation of the budget allocated to the ministry and its agencies.
"To achieve this, I want the staff of the ministry and its agencies to become facilitators. We must facilitate, not frustrate, the applications of entrepreneurs who come forward to seek financing.
"For example, if there are five criteria and the applicant only meets three of them, then we need to guide them on how to meet the remaining criteria," he said.
He said this during an interview programme called 'Belanjawan 2024: MEDAC Realising the MADANI Economy' on Bernama Radio yesterday.
Ewon said, "The criteria are not created to make it difficult for applicants, but rather we want every allocated budget to be utilised to its fullest potential."
Ewon's vision aligns with the concept of the MADANI Economy, which promotes inclusive and sustainable economic development.
