KOTA KINABALU: The University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) will be hosting the inauguration ceremony of its Bachelor of Science in Architecture (Honours) on 19 January at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu. The ceremony will take place from 2pm to 5pm and is strictly by invitation, with limited seating available.
A key highlight of the inauguration will be a special sharing session on Merdeka Tower 118, delivered by Dato’ Tengku Abdul Aziz Tengku Mahmud, the figure who spearheaded the development of the iconic landmark.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of UCSF, Datuk Dr Rafiq Idris, the programme represents a significant milestone as it marks the first architecture degree programme to be offered in Sabah. He noted that UCSF is honoured to feature a distinguished individual closely associated with the development of Merdeka Tower 118, adding that the session is expected to be both insightful and inspiring.
He further expressed hope that the programme would motivate talented young Sabahans to aspire towards greater achievements, particularly in the fields of architecture and the construction industry. In the long term, UCSF aims to contribute to the state’s development by producing more professional architects, with this programme serving as a crucial foundation towards higher professional qualifications in architecture.
