Mr. Sabah 2025 body building championship elevates Sabah sporting scene

TUARAN: The 2025 edition of the Mr. Sabah State-Level Bodybuilding Championship concluded on a high note at Dewan Seri Sulaman in Tuaran, marking one of the most dynamic and competitive showings in the championship’s history.


Organised by the Sabah Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) in collaboration with the Tuaran District Office, the championship drew 87 participants from across the state, all competing in a variety of bodybuilding and physique categories for both men and women.


This year’s event also served as the official selection platform for athletes representing Sabah at the prestigious Mr. Malaysia 2025, which will be held in Pahang this coming September.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Mohd Arziz Afizy Rumsani, representing the Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Sabah. In his remarks, he applauded the athletes’ dedication and urged the public to continue supporting the growth and development of bodybuilding in Sabah.


Emerging as the highlight of the event was Affan Affandy Sazali from Kota Kinabalu, who was named Mr. Sabah 2025 , Champion of the Champions. Affan clinched victories in both the Light Middleweight division and the Men’s Athletic Physique (170cm and above) category. With his outstanding performance, he will lead the Sabah contingent to the national championship next month.


Other notable winners included Rozally Golbin, who impressed in the Master Bodybuilding (45 years and above) and Welterweight categories, while Emmanuel Edeison Benedict stood out in the Junior Bodybuilding division (21 years). Mohammad Asraf Hamza claimed the title in Men’s Athletic Physique (below 170cm), while Martin Mangalai from KB Gym Hardcore took the Flyweight crown. Wandy Anjum triumphed in the Bantamweight category, followed by Muhammad Hakimi Abdullah in Lightweight and Allen Carlson Aloysius Sem in Middleweight. In the upper weight divisions, Grace Voo dominated both the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight classes.


In the women’s division, Daphne Darlene Pain captured the title in the Women’s Model Physique category, also earning the Best Poser (Women) award for her confident and polished presentation. In the men’s posing category, the Best Poser (Men) award went to Tony Meldan Masabal of Prime Fitness.


The SBBA, in a statement at the close of the event, extended its deepest gratitude to the organising committee, sponsors, government agencies, and all supporters who contributed to the success of the championship. The event not only showcased Sabah’s existing talent but also uncovered a new generation of athletes poised to elevate the state’s presence in national and international bodybuilding arenas.


With such an encouraging outcome, the Mr. Sabah 2025 Championship stands as a testament to the growing strength of bodybuilding in the state , and a rallying point for continued development and excellence in the sport.
