KINABATANGAN: The Chairman of the Sabah State Farmers’ Organisation (PPNS), Datuk Mohd Nazri Abdullah, has called on all members of farmers’ organisations in the Kinabatangan parliamentary constituency and the Lamag State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat to give their full support to the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in the by-elections scheduled for 24 January.

He said strong support was crucial to ensure the continuity of development initiatives in the agricultural sector and the welfare of farmers in the area, safeguarded through experienced elected representatives who understand grassroots needs.

According to him, the BN candidate for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat, Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar, and the BN candidate for the Lamag DUN seat, Mohd Ismail Ayob, possess the background, service record and clear commitment to champion the interests of farmers and rural communities.

“As Chairman of PPNS, I appeal to all farmers’ organisation members in Kinabatangan and Lamag to come out and vote, and to cast their ballots for the BN candidates for the sake of political stability and the continuity of agricultural development in this area,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Nazri also reminded eligible early voters to fulfil their responsibility on 20 January to ensure that the voices of the farming community are taken into account in determining the direction of leadership in the area.

He also expressed his heartfelt thanks and highest appreciation to the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, for his support for the BN candidates in Kinabatangan and the Lamag DUN seat.

The Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election features a three-cornered contest involving Mohd Kurniawan Naim (BN), Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman (Warisan) and Goldam Hamid (Independent).

Meanwhile, the Lamag DUN by-election will see a straight fight between Mohd Ismail Ayob (BN) and Mazliwati Abdul Malek (Warisan).

Nazri stressed that the active participation of farmers’ organisation members in the democratic process not only determines the elected representative, but also sends a clear signal that the farming community wants stable, credible leadership that genuinely defends their interests.

“Your vote is extremely meaningful for the future of farmers and agricultural development in Kinabatangan and Lamag,” he said.
