KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining political stability and unity among local parties as the foundation for Sabah’s continued growth and progress.

Acting President Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Joachim Gunsalam said PBS remains firm in its belief that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is the right and most credible platform for Sabahans to rally behind, particularly amid shifting political alignments.

He said the GRS government had, over the past year, demonstrated tangible results, from stronger fiscal management to accelerated progress on matters related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“Through constructive partnership with the Federal Government and cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH), Sabah has gained greater fiscal space, larger budget allocations, and unprecedented attention to its development needs. The pace of MA63 implementation today is far better and faster than under previous administrations,” he said.

Dr Joachim added that this political stability allows the state to focus on key priorities such as developing Sabah, boosting state revenue, and strengthening financial reserves for future generations.

“Our collaboration with the Federal Government is not one of dependency but of mutual respect and partnership. There has been no interference in Sabah’s affairs; instead, we have built a healthy relationship that prioritises the people’s well-being and the autonomy of our state,” he said.

As the longest-standing local party in Sabah, PBS has gone through the full cycle of political life — its challenges, successes, and valuable lessons that continue to shape its commitment to the people.

“We have learned that confrontation will not move us forward. What will bring Sabah to the next level are mature negotiations, professional dialogue, and sincere cooperation among all parties who truly love this land,” he said.

Dr Joachim called on all Sabahans and PBS supporters to remain united under the GRS banner and to continue supporting the government that has proven its sincerity and effectiveness.

“Together, we can give GRS a strong and decisive mandate in the coming state election, so that the vision of a prosperous, dignified, and self-reliant Sabah will continue to move forward,” he said.
