KIULU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has urged its members to stay focused and not be swayed by politically motivated allegations aimed at undermining the party’s leadership ahead of the 29 November state election.
PBS Information Chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai called on grassroots leaders and members to remain united and committed, saying recent bribery allegations involving Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam and Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Jahid Jahim were attempts to distract the party as the polls draw near.
“Our acting president and deputy president have provided their explanations, and I believe our leaders, members, and supporters stand firmly behind the party,” Joniston said during a meet-the-people session at Kampung Bambangan Lama on Monday.

“We view this alleged bribery issue as a politically motivated agenda aimed at weakening PBS, and we must not be distracted by it.”
Joniston, who is also the incumbent Kiulu assemblyman, said PBS remains guided by the principles of accountability, honesty, and transparency in its political journey.
“While some may attempt to use this issue as political ammunition, PBS will continue focusing on what truly matters, serving the people and earning their trust,” he said.
He stressed that PBS takes public trust seriously and believes that confidence must be earned through integrity, service, and accountability.
Joniston also called on members and supporters to remain disciplined and united as the state election approaches, assuring them that PBS is fully committed to playing a key role in ensuring Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secures a renewed mandate to lead the state.
He reaffirmed PBS’s commitment to championing the people’s welfare and ensuring that development and opportunities reach all corners of Sabah under the GRS administration.
“We believe the people will judge GRS based on its proven track record, not on the falsehoods being spread by the opposition,” he said.
“Facts and figures don’t lie, under GRS, Sabah recorded its highest-ever revenue and reserves, clear proof of responsible management and sound leadership. These are verifiable facts that stand on their own merit,” Joniston added, who also serves as the GRS Information Chief.
