PETRONAS Commits to Strengthen Collaboration with Sabah Media

KOTA KINABALU: PETRONAS hosted a Chinese New Year luncheon for Sabah's media practitioners, continuing its long-standing tradition of fostering strong partnerships and collaboration while expressing appreciation for the media’s contributions.
The event, held today, was attended by approximately 50 media professionals. Also present was the President of the Sabah Journalists Association (SJA), Datuk Muguntan Vanar.
PETRONAS Senior General Manager of Strategic Communications, Group Strategic Relations and Communications, Siti Azlina Abd Latif, underscored the importance of trust and mutual understanding in the company’s relationship with the media.
She reaffirmed PETRONAS’ commitment to supporting the vital role journalists play in informing the public.
“Your dedication to delivering news, information, and stories to the public has been instrumental in helping us reach our stakeholders, business partners, and the wider community with our messages,” she said in her speech during the event.
“We look forward to continuing our collaboration, working together to create credible stories that highlight our resilience, innovation, and unwavering commitment to a shared vision of a more sustainable future.”
PETRONAS also reiterated its support for the craft of journalism through contributions to the Kinabalu Press Awards in Sabah, the Malaysian Press Institute-PETRONAS Malaysian Journalism Awards at the national level, and the Kenyalang Journalism Awards in Sarawak.
“These awards are a testament to the power of journalism in shaping a more informed society, and we are honoured to stand alongside you in recognising talent within the industry,” said Siti Azlina.
“In acknowledging journalistic excellence, we celebrate stories that educate, inspire, and connect us in meaningful ways,” she added.
In closing, she expressed PETRONAS’ eagerness to further strengthen its collaboration with the media in the years ahead.
The luncheon also featured an exclusive preview of PETRONAS' Chinese New Year web film titled Stay, the first installment in its festive series under the theme Beyond Closed Doors
