PM inspects Flood and Landslide Victims in Penampang and Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Anwar Ibrahim today carried out a half-day working visit to assess the flood and landslide situation affecting several areas in Penampang and Kota Kinabalu.
He was accompanied by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Haji Noor, who joined him in inspecting the disaster sites and meeting victims at the Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS).
Anwar began his visit at Country Heights, Penampang, where a landslide had affected part of a residential area.

The Prime Minister then continued to PPS Kolopis at Sekolah Kebangsaan St Paul, Penampang, which is sheltering flood victims from Kampung Sarapung and Kampung Kolopis.
He also took time to interact with victims at PPS Kampung Sarapung, listening personally to their concerns and needs.
Later, Anwar visited the landslide site at the Gaya Campus of the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) in Kota Kinabalu, which has raised safety and infrastructure concerns.
Earlier, Anwar arrived at Terminal Two of Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Tanjung Aru, at around 2.15pm on a special flight. He was received by Hajiji and members of the state leadership.
Upon arrival, he was briefed on the latest disaster developments by State Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Sr Safar Untong, who is also the Sabah State Secretary.
