KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Retired Educators Association (PMPS) has opened new membership registration to retired teachers throughout the state in an effort to strengthen welfare networks and enhance the role of experienced educators in community development.

Its President, Dr Aslie Hj Sahat, said the move is part of the association’s ongoing efforts to bring together retired teachers so that they may continue contributing their experience, expertise and service to Sabah, even after retiring from the education service.

According to him, retired teachers play a significant role as a point of reference for the community, as well as serving as a catalyst for educational and social development, drawing on the extensive experience gained throughout their years of service.

“PMPS welcomes retired teachers across Sabah to register as members and join us in strengthening fellowship and welfare networks among educators who have contributed greatly to the state and the nation,” he said in a statement today.

He added that membership registration can be made through the PMPS Liaison Office in each district to facilitate the enrolment of new members.

He further noted that participation in the association would not only foster closer ties among members, but also create opportunities to implement various welfare, educational and community programmes that benefit local communities.

In this regard, he expressed hope that more retired teachers would come forward to join PMPS so that their experience, knowledge and expertise can continue to be utilised for the sustained development of society and the state of Sabah.
