KOTA KINABALU: Community Development Leaders (PPMs) must carry out their duties with the highest level of integrity, as they represent the State Government in their respective constituencies.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor has said PPMs serving in opposition-held constituencies, in particular, bear a heavier responsibility in earning the trust and confidence of the people in the GRS-led State Government.
“Apart from complying with government directives, the role of PPMs in opposition areas is especially challenging. You are the eyes and ears of the government. Carry out your responsibilities properly,” he said after officiating the second phase of the oath-taking ceremony involving 35 PPMs, most of whom will be posted to opposition constituencies, at Menara Kinabalu today.

A total of 45 PPMs had taken their oath of office during the first ceremony held on 13 January.
Hajiji stressed that PPMs must safeguard the image of the government and refrain from acting for personal gain.
“If I find anyone pursuing their own interests while neglecting the welfare of the people, I will not hesitate to dismiss them. Do not abuse your authority; instead, give priority to those who are genuinely in need of assistance,” he said.
He also reiterated that PPMs are responsible for explaining the State Government’s policies, initiatives and achievements at the grassroots level, particularly those under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) framework.
Also present at the ceremony were cabinet ministers and the Director of the PPM Unit, Datuk Awang Kadin Tang.
