KOTA KINABALU: All Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) in flood-affected districts of Sabah have been closed, as the disaster has been fully resolved.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor announced that the Secretariat of the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) had declared the closure of all PPS in Sabah.

He expressed his gratitude to all officers, departments, and government agencies involved in rescue and evacuation operations during the flood.

“I would also like to thank and acknowledge all parties, including the public, non-governmental organisations, associations, and individuals who were involved, either directly or indirectly, in assisting flood victims during the disaster,” he said in a statement today.

Hajiji emphasized that although the flood-affected districts have declared the disaster resolved, villagers—especially those in flood-prone areas—must remain vigilant and prepared due to unpredictable weather conditions.

He added that the State and District Disaster Management Committees should always be ready and make preparations for potential emergencies.

On January 31, the state government welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement of an RM25 million allocation to repair infrastructure affected by several disasters in Sabah and Sarawak.

From this allocation, RM10 million was designated for the repair of public infrastructure in both Sabah and Sarawak. An additional RM5 million was allocated for contributions to families of flood victims, with RM2.5 million each for Sabah and Sarawak. According to reports from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, each affected family will receive RM1,000.

Hajiji stressed the urgency of immediate assistance to repair infrastructure damaged by the flood disaster in several districts.

“The state government expresses its gratitude to the Federal Government for the immediate assistance,” he said.
