KENINGAU: The Prayer and Unity Solidarity programme held at Keningau Town Field brought together congregations from various churches alongside community leaders, including Liawan assemblyman Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman and his wife, Tengku Adlina Marita Tengku Adlin.
The event began with an opening prayer, a session of aerobic exercise, and the singing of the national anthem Negaraku and Sabah Tanah Airku, followed by an address from Reverend Paul Lau, Chairman of the Keningau Council of Churches (MGGK).
The highlight came when Annuar, together with pastors and church elders, led the ceremonial flag-off towards St Francis Xavier Cathedral, symbolising a journey of faith and unity.
Prayers of thanksgiving were delivered by Pastor Henry (Baptist Church), Pastor Jeffey (Basel Church) and Pastor Alisther (Sidang Injil Borneo), while the blessing was led by Monsignor Gilbert Lasius.
The presence of Catholic and Protestant denominations – including PCS, Anglican, Baptist, Basel and SIB churches – reflected the spirit of solidarity and harmony within the Keningau community.
The programme also featured a Walk for Jesus around the town, accompanied by a litter-picking activity along the route, reinforcing messages of cleanliness, civic responsibility and care for the environment.
