KOTA KINABALU: Preparations are well underway for the 2025 State-level Malaysia Day Celebration in Sabah, which will take place at Padang Merdeka on 16 September.


Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Christina Liew, who also serves as Chairperson of the State-level Malaysia Day Celebration Main Committee, chaired the final coordination meeting on Tuesday. During the session, she received progress reports from the Committee Secretary, Datuk Josie Lai, who is also Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS).


Reports were also presented by the heads of 14 Sub-Committees, each tasked with specific responsibilities.


The Head of State, Tun Musa Aman, and his Consort, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, will grace the occasion.


In addition to an entertainment programme, Liew announced that a lucky draw for the public will be held, featuring attractive prizes such as smartphones, a television set, electrical appliances, bicycles, hotel stays, and buffet vouchers.


“There will also be complimentary Milo drinks, ice cream and balloons for children, generously sponsored by corporate partners,” she said.


Among those present were Deputy Permanent Secretary II to KePKAS, Datin Dr Cleopatra Asing; General Manager of the Sabah Cultural Board, Mackey Apison; Chief Executive Officer of Sri Pelancongan Sabah, Thonny Chee; ACP Sabarudin and DSP Lee Nyuk Kim from the Sabah Contingent Police; Government Printer, Liew Chern Wei; Director of Corporate Affairs at DBKK, Rosie Inus Molukun; Head of Media and Corporate Communications at the Information Department, Dr Diana Dominic; and RTM Sabah Principal Assistant Director (TV Programme), Aris Arapa.
