Putatan MP Celebrates SPM 2025 Star Students with Awards

PUTATAN: Efforts to champion educational excellence are being strengthened through the SPM 2025 Outstanding Student Contribution Presentation Programme for the P.173 Putatan parliamentary constituency, held at Hotel Pan Borneo, Putatan.

Putatan MP Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya stated that the annual initiative, launched in 2020, serves as recognition for pupils achieving stellar results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.

According to him, such programmes not only celebrate student success but also provide a platform to boost motivation and drive for future achievements.

"Outstanding students are assets to the state's and nation's development. Thus, recognising their accomplishments must continue as encouragement for the youth," he said.

He was speaking at the contribution presentation ceremony, attended by local leaders, educators, and parents, at Hotel Pan Borneo on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, he announced the annual SmartJawab SPM programme to aid pupils' exam preparation, particularly in optimising academic performance.

He noted that student success stems from close collaboration among schools, parents, and the community, fostering a conducive learning environment.

Shahelmey commended the Penampang District Education Department for its excellent average school grade of 4.116, surpassing Sabah's state average, alongside performance gains by the Kota Kinabalu District Education Department.

Further commenting, he highlighted that most pupils in Putatan hail from B40 and M40 groups, yet economic constraints do not hinder success, with many securing top results like 10A and 11A.

To this end, various efforts will be intensified, including school and Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) collaborations to support underprivileged pupils and address school attendance issues impacting academic performance.
