PUTATAN: The development of women’s communities through entrepreneurial guidance and product marketing networks can add significant value to the local economy in the Putatan district.
Member of Parliament for Putatan, Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya, said that through close collaboration with relevant parties and agencies, women’s economic development at the parliamentary level can be diversified to meet existing market demands.
“On behalf of the Putatan Parliamentary Office, we will certainly continue to support initiatives aimed at empowering women through training, entrepreneurship guidance, and the promotion of local products.
“At the same time, we encourage collaboration between NGOs, government agencies, and the private sector so that these programmes can be further expanded within the constituency,” he said.
He made these remarks after officiating at the Micro-Entrepreneur Incubator Project for Housewives and Single Mothers Programme held at Hotel Pan Borneo, Putatan, on Saturday.
The event was organised by Oupus Organics as the project implementer, with the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM) serving as the programme initiator.
Participants comprised housewives and single mothers from Kampung Lok Bonu, Kampung Ulu Putatan, and Kampung Meruntum.
Shahelmey commended the implementation of such programmes, expressing hope that similar initiatives could be expanded and become catalysts for community empowerment throughout Putatan.
“May the success of programmes like this inspire more women to rise, become self-reliant, and contribute to their communities,” he said.
