KOTA KINABALU: Regenerative medicine stands at the forefront of modern science, holding the promise not only to repair and restore damaged tissues and organs but also to revolutionise the way we prevent, manage, and ultimately cure diseases, said Datuk Seri Christina Liew.
The former Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment was the guest of honour at the Scientific Seminar on Regenerative Medicine with Exosomes organised by Biolive (M) Sdn Bhd at the Sabah Hakka Hall on Sunday evening.
“This is more than just medical innovation — it is about giving people renewed hope and empowering communities to lead longer, healthier, and more meaningful lives,” she stated, welcoming doctors from Taiwan and academic researchers from UKM Malaysia who delivered presentations sharing their knowledge, experiences, and visions for the future of healthcare.
The esteemed speakers included Prof Dr Su Yung-Tsun, Director of the Taiwan Anti-ageing Medical Association and the Asia-Pacific Tumour & Chronic Diseases Nutrition Society; Dr Yang You-Chia, an ophthalmologist from Taiwan Nobel Eye Clinic and a Board-Certified Specialist with the Taiwan Society of Aesthetic Medicine; Associate Professor Dr Daniel Law Jia Xian, Deputy Head of the Department of Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC); and Associate Professor Dr Angela Ng, a Senior Lecturer from the same department.
Describing the seminar as a testament to the power of collaboration, Liew expressed her belief that bringing together leading scientists, researchers, healthcare professionals, and entrepreneurs was laying the foundation for breakthroughs that will shape the future of medicine, not only in Malaysia but across the globe.
“In this endeavour, let us be bold in our vision, steadfast in our commitment, and united in our efforts. Together, we can ensure that regenerative medicine fulfils its promise to transform healthcare and improve countless lives,” she concluded.
