KENINGAU: The Chairman of the Bingkor Community Welfare Association, Haji Yazid Haji Mohd Hasnan Tawik @ Charles, has welcomed the presentation of the Sabah Budget 2026, describing it as a reflection of prudent, disciplined fiscal management that clearly prioritises the interests of the people.

He said the budget, presented by the Sabah Minister of Finance and Deputy Chief Minister II, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, demonstrates the State Government’s ability to maintain financial stability amid ongoing global economic uncertainty.

“With estimated Supply Expenditure amounting to RM6.402 billion and estimated revenue of RM6.430 billion, the State Government has succeeded in recording a budget surplus of RM28 million. This is a significant achievement that deserves commendation,” he said in a statement today.

Yazid noted that although the budget reflects a slight decrease compared with the 2025 Budget, the ability to maintain a surplus proves the careful fiscal management and administrative efficiency of the GRS–Unity Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.

According to him, the Sabah Budget 2026 is also considered realistic as it is anchored on the state’s actual revenue capacity, thereby allowing for the continuity of development, public welfare programmes, and Sabah’s overall economic stability.

“This approach is highly commendable as it prioritises long-term financial sustainability over excessive spending that could undermine the state’s fiscal position in the future,” he said.

He emphasised that, overall, the Sabah Budget 2026 reflects the State Government’s commitment to ensuring that Sabah’s prosperity is shared with the people, while upholding responsible and integrity-driven financial governance.
