SABAH RECORDS 125 NEW COVID-19 CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 125 new Covid-19 cases maintaining the three digits’ number, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 56,910.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two more deaths were also reported with one each in Tawau.


Masidi stated out of the total, 62 of the cases were close contacts, 12 stemmed from symptomatic screening, 45 from existing clusters and new cluster, and six from other categories.

Tawau recorded the highest number of new cases with 58, followed by Tuaran (15), Papar (10), Putatan (nine), Kota Kinabalu (seven), Lahad Datu and Sandakan (six), Penampang, Kota Belud, and Kunak (three), Kalabakan, Kinabatangan, Nabawan, Semporna, and Kudat each respectively recorded one new cases.


A total of 12 districts did not record new cases, namely Keningau, Beluran, Beaufort, Ranau, Sipitang, Pitas, Tambunan, Tenom, Kota Marudu, Telupid, Kuala Penyu and Tongod.

"125 patients have also recovered from Covid-19. To date, a total of 55,254 recovered cases have been recorded in Sabah.


"However, 1008 patients are still receiving treatment with 309 in hospitals and 635 in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres," said Masidi.


He added that 55 of them are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU), including 20 requiring ventilator support.
