Sabah to host Asia Triathlon Cup after 22 years

KOTA KINABALU: The Asia Triathlon Cup, a prestigious international sporting event, will return to Sabah after 22 years. The event will be held at Prince Philip Park, Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu on November 11 this year.
The event is organised by XMultisport Event, appointed by the Malaysia Triathlon Association, and sanctioned by World Triathlon. Asia Triathlon is the governing body for triathlon and related multisports in Asia, recognised by World Triathlon.
Sabah's Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew said the event would showcase Sabah's natural beauty and hospitality, as well as its capability to host world-class sporting events.
She said the event would attract talented athletes from across Asia and beyond, offering them a challenging and exhilarating competition experience.
"This memorable return signifies Sabah’s enduring commitment to the sport of triathlon and its standing as a premier sports destination in the region," she said.
Tony Tan Beng Hong, President of Malaysia Triathlon Association, said he had full confidence in XMultisport Event to organise the Asia Triathlon Cup.
He also said that every participant in the KKCity XMultisport Challenge's Triathlon would automatically advance to the Asia Triathlon Cup, creating an exciting bridge between the local and international triathlon communities.
The KKCity XMultisport Challenge is a four-day event that includes various sport categories, such as duathlon, aquathlon, and neon night run. The event will conclude with a lucky draw, with a brand new Perodua Axia 2023 1.0 X (CVT) as the grand prize.
