KUALA LUMPUR Samsung Malaysia Electronics ("Samsung Malaysia") is delighted to announce the launch of the seventh edition of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow (SFT) 2025. This nationwide competition continues to empower young minds to utilise Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to tackle real-world challenges within their communities. Under the theme 'Start with Can', Malaysian students aged 13 to 15 are invited to transform bold ideas into STEM-driven solutions addressing local issues, from sustainability to wellbeing. Winners will have the chance to win Samsung products valued at up to RM117,000, alongside the opportunity to showcase their ideas on a national platform.

In partnership with Universiti Malaya, SFT 2025 forms part of Samsung's global youth education and innovation initiative. It aims to encourage Malaysian students to apply their STEM knowledge and creative problem-solving skills to pressing community issues. This year’s competition invites participants to explore one of four key themes: environmental sustainability through technology, social change via sport and tech, health and wellbeing, or education and learning. The campaign arrives at a pivotal moment, as Malaysia faces a rising talent drain, with over 1.8 million Malaysians seeking better opportunities abroad.[1] By fostering local innovation and digital literacy, Samsung SFT 2025 supports the objectives outlined in Malaysia’s 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), which positions technology and artificial intelligence as essential drivers of future growth.[2]

Elaine Soh, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Malaysia Electronics, stated, “Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow has always centred around encouraging young Malaysians to think creatively and apply classroom knowledge in meaningful ways. We are proud to support students as they explore practical solutions to real challenges, whether within their communities or beyond. Through this year’s Solve for Tomorrow, we hope to nurture vital skills and foster an innovative mindset that will benefit Malaysia’s future.”

Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Mas Sahidayana Mohktar, Director of Universiti Malaya STEM Centre, added, “We believe Malaysian youth are crucial pillars of our nation’s future. Their creativity is boundless, and we are confident these young minds have the potential to change the world. As educators, we always encourage them to think beyond the ordinary, embrace challenges, and remain resilient. Collaborating with Samsung for the sixth consecutive year, this initiative underlines our ongoing commitment to nurturing early-stage STEM education — a vital step in building the talent pool that will drive Malaysia’s economic growth.”

Participants from secondary schools across Malaysia are invited to submit an 800-word proposal outlining innovative solutions to real-world issues. Submissions should be based on one of four themes: environmental sustainability through technology, social change via sport and tech, health and wellbeing, or education and learning. Entries will be assessed by Samsung Malaysia and Universiti Malaya based on criteria including relevance to the issue, creativity, feasibility, STEM application, and overall presentation.

The ten highest-scoring teams will progress to the next stage, where they will further develop and present their ideas. Shortlisted entrants will be notified via email and featured on the programme’s official website in October 2025. These teams will then be introduced to their mentors during the Design to Win Workshop, receiving guidance and support to refine their concepts and develop working prototypes.

The final winners will be selected through a competitive pitching process in December 2025, with prizes including Samsung products worth up to RM44,000 for the first place, RM30,000 for the second, RM23,000 for the third, RM12,000 for the fourth, and RM8,000 for the fifth. Registration is now open, and submissions must be received by 15 September 2025.
