SANDAKAN: The JCI Sandakan Food Festival 3.0 has once again showcased the vibrant and diverse culinary scene of Sandakan, transforming a local food event into a platform that highlights the city’s rich cultural heritage and potential as a thriving tourism product.

 In her launching speech Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong, expressed her thanks at being part of this exciting celebration, praising JCI Sandakan for their dedication in elevating the festival beyond just food. Over the years, the event has evolved into a celebration of culture, entrepreneurship, and community spirit, with food serving as the central thread that unites all.

"Food is more than sustenance; it is a story-teller of our traditions, innovations, and identity," she  said. "Sandakan’s multicultural blend of Chinese, Malay, Indigenous, and Sabahan influences creates a unique flavour that can serve as a compelling tourism attraction."

“Organisers and vendors alike have demonstrated their commitment to supporting local talent, with an emphasis on empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), family businesses, and homegrown chefs. The event not only provides a marketplace for delicious dishes but also promotes sustainable practices and community bonding.”
