Sandakan MP Refutes Viral Social Media Allegations on Diesel Procurement

SANDAKAN: The refuelling of diesel for the Sandakan Water Department’s generator was recently coordinated in collaboration with the Sandakan Parliamentary Service Centre and the Water Department.

Recently, Sandakan Member of Parliament, Vivian Wong Shir Yee, also visited the Segaliud Water Treatment Plant (LRA) to observe the process and enquire about the current situation.

At that time, Vivian only assisted in facilitating the matter and did not purchase the diesel fuel, contrary to claims made by certain pages and individuals on social media, including Facebook, which have reached almost one million viewers.

The Public Relations Officer for P186 Sandakan, who is also the Organising Secretary of DAPSY Sandakan and Publicity Secretary of DAPSY Sabah, Asrul Abdul Samat, clarified that neither Vivian nor anyone from her office had ever issued any official or unofficial statement claiming that she had purchased the diesel.

This clarification is important to prevent any misunderstanding among the public.

He added that the administrators of the page concerned have also been informed of the facts by the P186 Sandakan officer.

“As such, it is crucial that all parties recognise the actual facts rather than spreading such false allegations. Our focus remains on helping the people navigate this crisis in the best way possible,” he said.
