KOTA KINABALU: A reward of RM10,000 will be offered to anyone who comes forward with vital information leading to the arrest, prosecution, and conviction of those responsible for the senseless killing of the Borneo pygmy elephant in Sabah.
The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Environment (KePKAS) has made this decision to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice for their actions.
In an announcement made on Wednesday evening, Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew appealed to eyewitnesses and anyone with information to step forward and assist with the ongoing investigations.
"We made the decision to offer a reward of RM10,000 during a ministerial meeting on Wednesday, following the discovery of yet another carcass of a decapitated elephant. This marks the third distressing case since January of this year. We are seeking concrete evidence of these horrific acts. We urge the public to cooperate by reporting any incidents to the Sabah Wildlife Department and local police if they have witnessed any such events, so that we can hold the perpetrator(s) accountable," she stated to reporters.
