Secure GRS Victory in Kota Marudu for GE16, Urges Sabah CM

KOTA MARUDU: The strong cooperation among Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) component party leaders has solidified the coalition's position to ensure the Kota Marudu parliamentary seat is represented by a government assemblyman following the 16th General Election (GE16) expected next year.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor expressed confidence based on GRS control of the three state seats, Tandek, Matunggong, and Bandau, with all representatives and supporters backing the coalition.

Even though Bandau assemblyman Datuk Maijol Mahap is an independent, he supports the GRS-led government post the 17th State Election (SE17) last November.

"I am confident in our assemblymen's collaborative spirit here, all GRS, including Datuk Maijol, who is effectively GRS too. We will win Kota Marudu in the coming parliamentary election," Hajiji declared at the Bandau assemblyman and Kota Marudu District Office Aidilfitri Open House at Astaka Dataran Kota Marudu.

He urged the public to back the ruling party, dismissing opposition rhetoric as ineffective, and highlighted five years of progress under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) initiative now entering Phase 2.0.

Hajiji, accompanied by Datuk Maijol – also Assistant Minister for Local Government and Housing – prioritised resolving water, electricity, and road issues within one to two years using cabinet-approved allocations.

Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi handed over the RM4 billion Rural Water Supply (BALB) project to the state for implementation from this year.

Reaffirming GRS commitment to the poor, he noted aid for 140,000 hardcore poor and poor households this year alone, unprecedented in scale.

At the event, he approved RM500,000 each for a new Kampung Tambun mosque and Kampung Lamparda basic bridge.
