TUARAN: Shangri-La Rasa Ria is delighted to announce its official partnership with the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan and Randawi Tavantang (District Level Tuaran 2026) committees.

This collaboration aims to strengthen cultural appreciation and elevate Tuaran’s reputation as a premier destination for heritage and sustainable luxury tourism.

As the Harvest Festival (Pesta Kaamatan) draws near, the resort will play a pivotal role in hosting and supporting these esteemed cultural pageants. The Unduk Ngadau, honouring the legend of Huminodun, and the Randawi Tavantang, a celebration of Sabahan male grace, strength, and cultural wisdom, embody the vibrant spirit of Tuaran’s community.

The partnership kicked off with a preliminary registration last weekend, with 25 hopefuls competing for the Unduk Ngadau title and 9 for the Randawi Tavantang, representing Tuaran, Tamparuli, and Kiulu.

Rasa Ria will serve as the official venue for registration and bootcamp activities, providing essential support for the contestants.

“We are truly grateful for Rasa Ria’s support,” said Hannevy W. Harry, District Unduk Ngadau & Randawi Tavantang Coordinator and Tamparuli Assistant District Officer. “We hope this marks the start of a fruitful collaboration between the Tuaran UNK/RTK committee and this world-renowned hospitality brand.”

Fiona Hagan, General Manager of Shangri-La Rasa Ria, added, “At Rasa Ria, we are dedicated to supporting the socio-cultural initiatives of the Tuaran community. Our partnership with the Unduk Ngadau and Randawi Tavantang Tuaran 2026 celebrates our roots. We are honoured to support these young ambassadors who carry our heritage forward, ensuring Tuaran’s culture continues to thrive.”

With this year’s theme, ‘Kaamatan: Harvesting Unity, Celebrating Harmony’, the collaboration takes centre stage as Sabah prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026.

It exemplifies how the private sector and cultural organisations can work together to preserve intangible local heritage.
