Sixty F&B Outlets Launch Rasa Sandakan Food Trail Campaign 2025

SANDAKAN: Sandakan’s vibrant culinary scene is set to take centre stage as sixty local food and beverage outlets unite to launch the inaugural Rasa Sandakan Food Trail campaign, aimed at showcasing the city’s rich gastronomic heritage to both local residents and international visitors.

The campaign, scheduled to run from 18 September to 31 October 2025, will be primarily promoted across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and the Red Note app. It promises to highlight Sandakan’s diverse culinary offerings — from renowned seafood dishes to the beloved UFO tart — positioning the city not only as the Gateway to Borneo’s unique wildlife but also as the state’s burgeoning gastronomic capital.

Organised by the Sandakan Tourism Association (STAN) and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah (KePKAS), alongside various local tourism stakeholders, the initiative aims to elevate Sandakan’s reputation as a premier food destination.

A highlight of the campaign will be the launch event, a uniquely themed Sandakan Amazing Food Race, inspired by the popular reality TV show *The Amazing Race*. Scheduled for 20 September, participants will have the chance to explore the city’s culinary delights in a fun, engaging competition.

STAN President, Teo Chee Kim, commented: “We warmly invite both domestic and international visitors to come and sample our local delicacies. Those who visit 12 or more of the participating outlets will be eligible to redeem a limited-edition souvenir and enter a lucky draw with grand prizes to be won.”

He added: “This collective effort to promote Sandakan’s culinary tourism will generate significant media exposure and boost the city’s profile. We view this as an exciting opportunity to brand our ‘food’ experiences as a key driver of tourism for Sandakan.”
