KENINGAU: Cooperation and communal effort proved effective, as it led to the successful repair of a suspension bridge at Kg. Agudon.
The bridge, which had deteriorated over time, was a vital lifeline for the local community. When it became visibly worn and unsafe, residents took it upon themselves to carry out the necessary repairs.
Embracing the spirit of mitatabang, a traditional Dusun practice of communal work, the villagers came together to restore the bridge, recognising its importance as a key facility for their daily lives.
Connecting several homes to the main road, the bridge had sustained significant damage following recent heavy rainfall, which severely disrupted the movement of students, elderly residents, and farmers.
The repair work was made possible through cash contributions from Liawan Assemblyman, Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman, which enabled the purchase of essential building materials.
Chairman of the Agudon Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), Feraddi Gerou, said Annuar’s swift response reflected a leadership style that genuinely listens to the needs of the people.
