KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association (SWEPA) has stepped forward once again to support families affected by recent disasters in Inobong and Papar, reaffirming its commitment to community welfare.

As of 20–21 September, 17 families remain at the Inobong Relief Centre, awaiting clearance from the Department of Geology and Science before they can safely return to their homes for repair and recovery. Some children have been unable to attend school during this time. SWEPA responded by providing essential supplies to ease their immediate needs.

Meanwhile, in Papar, the victims of the Kg. Marahang landslide have reached out to SWEPA for assistance. The association provided school uniforms, sportswear, shoes, bags, and supplies for the two surviving children of the tragedy.

A donation was also extended to their father, Benney, who expressed that his children, aged 15 and 12, remain his greatest motivation to overcome this hardship.

SWEPA President Betty Epin, accompanied by Vice President Suryani Mohd Saidi, Community Head Janet Delvo, and members Glenda Hew, Molly Yong, and Melissa Lee, personally visited both communities on 20–21 September.

“Supporting families in their time of need is at the heart of SWEPA’s mission. We will continue working alongside relevant authorities to help ensure the safety and well-being of those affected,” said Betty.

SWEPA reaffirmed that it will remain a steadfast partner to disaster-stricken families as they work to rebuild their lives.
