KOTA KINABALU: Former Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Christina Liew, commended the Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association (SWEPA) for its continued excellence and global recognition during the association’s 16th Executive Committee Installation Ceremony held last night.
In her address, Liew extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly installed President, Betty Epin, and her committee for the 2025–2027 term. She expressed confidence that under their leadership, SWEPA would continue to embrace innovation, strengthen networks, and expand its influence across Sabah, Malaysia, and beyond.
“With your able leadership, I believe SWEPA will continue to build bridges of collaboration and guide the association to even greater heights,” she said.
Liew also paid tribute to outgoing President Karen Wong and the immediate past Executive Committee (2023–2025) for their notable achievements, particularly the successful organisation of the International Women’s Conference (IWC) 2024, which attracted over 500 delegates and earned both national and international recognition.
Highlighting SWEPA’s growing prominence, Liew lauded the association’s Gold Award win at the 14th Top 50 Professional & Career Women Global Awards 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, calling it a testament to the members’ collective effort, innovation, and resilience.
“These accomplishments reflect the essence of radiance in elegance, radiance from bold ideas, courage and resilience; and elegance found in purpose, wisdom, and compassion,” she remarked.
She noted that since its inception in 1993, SWEPA has evolved into more than just a platform for entrepreneurs and professionals. It has become a dynamic force contributing to Sabah’s social and economic progress through capacity-building programmes and community empowerment initiatives.
Liew urged the members to continue pursuing excellence and to inspire the next generation of women leaders.
“May SWEPA’s light shine ever brighter in the years to come , just like the colours black and gold that symbolise resilience, prestige, and brilliance,” she concluded.
