KOTA KINABALU: Two localities in Beaufort and Kota Marudu districts will be placed under a 14-day enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting on July 5 and ends at July 18.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said in Beaufort, the locality involved is Taman Zifa, Bingkul.

"A total of 21 Covid-19 cases were recorded after 50 individuals screened in a short period of time,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, in Kota Marudu, the locality that will be placed under EMCO is Kampung Simpangan with 10 positive cases detected.

Masidi added the decision to impose EMCO on these localities was made in order to restrict the public movement so that the virus will not spread to other areas.
