KOTA KINABALU: Teachers ought to be recognised for their dedication and sacrifices in
fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to them.
Datuk Ewon Benedict the Kadamaian State Assemblyman said this in his speech at the reception for “Academic Potential Award Unlimited” (AngPAU) held here today.
His speech was read by Datuk Phillip Lasimbang Chairman of Yayasan Bank Rakyat.
He said the phrase 'Guru Tunjang Sekolah Sejahtera' or ‘Teachers, mainstay of prosperous schools’ aligns with the commitment of educators to always give their best in nurturing the future generation of the country.
“Teachers are like lamps that illuminate life throughout. Challenges and obstacles are faced calmly. I hope that educators in the Kota Belud district will continue to serve and fulfill the entrusted duties for our children.
"The role of teachers is significant in producing quality and competitive individuals, as well as contributing energy and dedication to the economic, political, and social development of the country,” he elaborated.
He went on to say that the challenging times during the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the entire world had resulted in teachers facing difficulties in meeting students in school, but the experience of Home-Based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) provided space and opportunities for teachers to enhance their digital technology skills, even for the students themselves.
He said the role of teachers in educating students in any situation never stops without reason. The contribution of teachers in producing useful individuals for the nation and country should be appreciated.
“As the Kadamaian State Assemblyman, I will continue to support and prioritise the development of education and the needs of schools in the Kota Belud area, especially in Kadamaian, in addition to focusing on infrastructure development and entrepreneurship. Programmes like this have the potential to have a positive impact on the development of students and teachers in this state.”
Ewon who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative congratulated the recipients of AngPAU and hoped it will be a motivation to them to continue to excel in their duties.
