KOTA KINABALU: Eldest brother of Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, Member of Parliament for Tuaran, was found dead in his plantation in Kampung Lokos Kiulu, here last night.

The deceased, Paulus Sabin Tangau, 72, was discovered by villagers around 9:00 PM after he was reported missing and had not returned home as usual.

It was reported that he had gone to the plantation around 9:00 AM, but he had not returned home until 6:00 PM.

Concern grew when the deceased did not answer his mobile phone when contacted.

As a result, his family members sought the help of villagers to search around the village.

During the initial search, villagers found his car parked in good condition near his plantation area.

After about two hours of searching, the villagers found him with his face submerged in the water of a river in the area, lifeless.

Meanwhile, Madius last night confirmed the passing of his brother in a post on his Facebook page.

"It is with deep sorrow that I inform you that my brother, Paulus Sabin Tangau, has passed away a while ago.

"I apologise for any inconvenience, and request a little space to be with my family at this time," he said.

The late Paulus, who was the eldest child among 14 siblings, leaves behind eight children and 12 grandchildren. His wife had passed away a while ago.
