KUALA LUMPUR: U Mobile, Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, aims to play a catalytic role in the country’s digitalisation journey through its neutral Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP).
This initiative is designed to provide an agnostic environment for enterprises, SMEs, start-ups, academia, and public sector agencies to develop and commercialise their 5G-A use cases, proofs of concept, and pilot projects. The EIP collaboration framework is based on a Develop, Test, and Demonstrate approach, with a physical EIP Hub and sandbox set to launch in July 2026.
Recognising that effective enterprise innovation requires specialised ecosystem capabilities, U Mobile has welcomed its first eight partners to the EIP. Their commitment reflects a shared intent to collaboratively develop and validate 5G-A and AI use cases within the neutral platform. To ensure support across a broad spectrum of innovation areas, these initial partners are organised into two categories.
The first category, Anchor Partners, includes Amazon Web Services, Huawei Malaysia, Palo Alto Networks, and Qualcomm. These partners contribute foundational technologies and core capabilities vital to supporting the EIP Hub and sandbox environment. The second group, Technology Partners, offers applied tools and vertical expertise to advance the development and validation of enterprise use cases. This group comprises Braintree Technologies, China Mobile International Malaysia, Meraque Group, and ZTE Malaysia.
Woon Ooi Yuen, Chief Technology Officer of U Mobile, stated, “U Mobile has a long history of innovation, and we firmly believe that innovation is key to technological advancement. As Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, our latest initiative, the Enterprise Innovation Platform, aligns with our commitment to promoting the adoption of 5G-A and AI solutions. While our physical EIP Hub, launching in July 2026, will be powered by next-generation 5G infrastructure and ULTRA5G connectivity, it is fundamentally a neutral environment.”
“ Any enterprise, SME, start-up, academic institution, or public sector agency may leverage our platform, regardless of whether they are existing customers. Through EIP, they can tap into the expertise, tools, and knowledge of our partners to develop, test, and bring solutions to market. The partners announced today, both global and local leaders in their fields, are just the beginning; we expect the list to grow in response to evolving innovation needs. We genuinely believe that EIP will play a vital role in supporting Malaysia’s digital and AI ambitions under the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan.”
The EIP Hub will feature an integrated innovation sandbox offering 5G-A, cloud, and edge access, an IoT device lab, private network zones, live demo areas, and various tools such as network slicing simulators, digital twin environments, and AR/VR toolkits. These facilities will ensure that innovative solutions and test cases can be validated and deployed in real-world environments.
On the partner front, Amazon Web Services will facilitate the development and validation of cloud-native, data-intensive, and AI-driven applications, ensuring architectures are secure, scalable, and deployment-ready. Huawei Malaysia will provide 5G Advanced radio access, core networks, and AI-enabled platforms to establish and operate the sandbox for enterprise-grade testing, integration, and demonstration.
Palo Alto Networks will offer cybersecurity expertise and guidance on Zero Trust architecture to support security validation across network, cloud, and application layers. Qualcomm will support technology enablement for solutions leveraging 5G connectivity, edge AI, and intelligent devices, including reference demonstrations that aid use case development and showcase.
In the technology partner segment, Braintree Technologies will provide applied use cases in AgriTech and automation, including drones, robotics, GIS, IoT, and AI, supporting validation and demonstration of 5G-enabled solutions in field settings.
China Mobile International Malaysia will bring deployment-informed 5G expertise and R&D insights to support co-development and refinement of enterprise use cases. Meraque Group will contribute drone, robotics, and autonomous system use cases to support testing, validation, and demonstration of low-latency control, autonomous coordination, and real-time data streaming. Lastly, ZTE Malaysia will provide enablers such as network and AI platforms, device, and edge components to support testing and demonstration of multi-partner enterprise solutions.
