KOTA KINABALU: University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) organised its Financial Literacy Day as part of its Financial Literacy Programme.

Dr. Rafiq Idris, the Vice Chancellor of UCSF, highlighted that this newly launched programme aims to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience through continuous educational initiatives. The goal is to equip students not only with knowledge in green initiatives, digital technologies, and entrepreneurship but also in financial literacy.

Financial literacy is crucial for effectively managing financial resources throughout one's life for long-term financial well-being. Dr. Frederica, the Head of the Financial Literacy Programme, mentioned that various activities were conducted during the Financial Literacy Day.

These included a Financial Quiz Competition, Financial Games Competition, and the second installment of the Financial Literacy Talk Series 2/2024. Food trucks and product vendors were present to offer food and products to students and staff. Information booths by RHB Bank, Bank Islam, and Prudential Takaful provided banking and insurance information to meet the students' needs.

The Financial Literacy Talk Series 2/2024 took place at the UCSF Main Hall from 2-4 pm, featuring speakers Azrizal Tauffique Ahmad from Prudential Takaful and Natasha Asbi, Relationship Manager, Premier Banking, RHB Bank Berhad.

They discussed topics such as the importance of preparing for emergencies through financial planning and banking facilities, personal banking, and investments, respectively. These talks aimed to enhance financial literacy awareness among UCSF students.

As part of the event, the Financial Literacy Unit organized a Donation Drive in support of The Needy Children's Home of Toboh, Tambunan, to instill the value of charity among UCSF students. The collection included cash, used clothing/items, and food products. Studies have shown a positive correlation between charitable giving and financial success, stability, and overall happiness.

The UCSF Financial Literacy Day was filled with engaging activities, including Lucky Draws, but the most valuable takeaway for students was the knowledge gained on financial literacy.
