KOTA KINABALU: The USHANiaga platform loaded in a carnival by UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) here today provides opportunities for local entreprenuers to showcase their products.

The agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDC)2 provides opportunities and accord local entrepreneurs the assistance to promote their products, in line with the ministry's focus on empowering entrepreneurs.

Speaking when launching the carnival MEDC Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the

UDA Carnival in Sabah targetted 100 entrepreneurs, covering various types of businesses including food, fashion, accessories, health products, and services, with a sales target of RM2 million.

He said the three day-carnival from 24th to 26th November include exhibitions from the central and state government agencies as well as uniformed units.

"Considering the participation of nearly 300 entrepreneurs and the achievement of sales totaling RM5.48 million in the UDA Carnival held in Johor and Penang, I believe UDA is capable of achieving the target participation of 500 entrepreneurs with sales worth RM10 million for the UDA Carnival in four (4) locations in 2023," he said adding that the UDA Carnival has already been held in Johor and Penang, now in Sabah, and will be held in Perak in December.

According to him, the encouraging sales achievements in the two UDA Carnival locations (Johor and Penang) held recently, had a positive impact on the entrepreneurs participating in the carnival.

Indirectly, besides increasing sales, they can also showcase their products and services more extensively.

"UDA's effort in bringing together UDA entrepreneurs, MEDC agency, and other agencies demonstrates UDA's proactive approach to empower entrepreneurs in collaboration with the ministry," he stated.

The MARI and KIRANA programmes provided by UDA to support the business development of entrepreneurs, including those in Sabah, is align with one of the ministry's focuses, which is to increase the participation of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in high-value sectors and penetrate the global market, Ewon said.

These programmes focus on strengthening the sustainability of MSMEs and cooperatives to enhance economic competitiveness and further strengthen the social entrepreneurship ecosystem to normalise social impact.

"UDA is exploring the prospects of property development in the state of Sabah to provide residential and commercial property products in collaboration with the government to improve the standard of living and socio-economic status of the local community."

The UDA Carnival here, which includes the UDA Ria programmes showcasing UDA's property products nationwide, can introduce these products to the local community and provide opportunities for the young people of Sabah to own properties in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak with various attractive incentive offers, the Minister said.

Also present during the event was Datuk Mohd Salem Kailany President and Chief Executive Officer of UDA Holdings Berhad.
