PENAMPANG: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), especially under the leadership of Datuk Ewon Benedick, has demonstrated impactful efforts through tangible actions rather than just rhetorics.

Marcellus Tambud Papar Vice Division Chief in support of a statement by Felix Joseph Saang, UPKO’s Youth Chief said

the party's proactive approach sets it apart in the fight for Sabah’s interests.

"The UPKO Youth Chief had rightly emphasised that the party does not just speak out about issues but instead actively propose solutions and push for their implementation," he said.

Their relentless advocacy has contributed significantly to the progress achieved in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), Marcellus who is also UPKO Supreme Council Member, opined.

The amendment of the Inland Revenue Board Act (IRB) to include Sabah and Sarawak representatives, as well as the substantial increase in special grants to RM600 million, exemplify concrete victories that directly benefit Sabah, he said.

Ewon's persistent efforts have resulted in the resolution of nine out of thirteen key issues related to MA63, an impressive track record that underscores their dedication and effectiveness, he stressed

"These successes demonstrate a clear commitment to securing Sabah’s rightful place within Malaysia, unlike some federal leaders whose tenure may have been marked by complacency or limited tangible results," Marcellus said.

"In essence, UPKO’s achievements exemplify a strategic, determined, and action-oriented approach to championing Sabah’s rights," he said, adding that they had also diligently worked and fulfilled their duties across all levels of society.

Their leadership exemplifies how sustained advocacy and proactive policies can lead to meaningful change, surpassing the accomplishments of others who have merely held positions without delivering comparable progress for the state.
