KOTA MARUDU: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Kota Maradu has proposed to contest the upcoming Sabah state election under its own logo.
The bold move, seen as a step towards strengthening the party’s independence, aims to dispel the long-held perception that UPKO *did not have their own autonomy*.
UPKO Kota Marudu Deputy Division Chief, Matlunad Agok, said the party is confident of contesting more seats and achieving significant victories, noting that Sabahans are increasingly rallying behind local-based parties that prioritise the people’s aspirations and future.
“This election, UPKO will stand firm with our own identity, our own logo, and our own strength. The sentiment of the people is clear, they want local parties to lead and shape Sabah’s future. UPKO is ready to deliver on that hope,” he said.
The decision underscores UPKO’s commitment to defending Sabah’s rights and strengthening grassroots support across constituencies.
