PAPAR: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation’s (UPKO) President Datuk Ewon Benedick’s recent visit to Kg Mook Kinarut Papar to meet party members and receive new memberships strengthen the support for the party.

Datuk Gilbert Sham the Papar UPKO Division head said it had provided an opportunity for the party president to connect with grassroots supporters and boosted their morale and commitment to the party.

“We are proud to have a strong base of 3,700 dedicated party members in Limbahau, representing the aspirations of approximately 19,670 voters. With commitment and relentless efforts, we are confident that we can further expand our membership and significantly increase our chances of emerging victorious in the upcoming elections."

He agreed that the main need of most community members is to generate additional income through entrepreneurship, primarily by participating in the Tamu Desa, or rural traditional market. According to him, several traditional markets will be established, including the Marahang Tamu Desa, which is scheduled to be implemented soon. Additionally, there are other potential areas that are suitable for such trading activities.

“There is necessity for various improvements in the community. These improvements include the construction of Community Halls, rural Primary Schools, and the provision of reliable water supply and maintenance as well as sealed roads,” he said.

Ewon’s visit to the community demonstrates attentiveness to their needs and aspirations, Gilbert said adding that it can help shape the party's agenda and policies to better address the concerns of the constituency.
