PENAMPANG: Junik Bajit is the Melalap Division Chief for United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) and has been a dedicated member for 23 years, having joined the party in 2002.

Throughout this time, he has remained steadfast in his allegiance, never changing party affiliations, as he firmly believes in UPKO’s struggles and its vision for Sabah. His commitment stems from a deep conviction to be part of a movement that seeks genuine progress and positive change for the people.

Junik expressed great respect for the leadership of UPKO, highlighting their unwavering dedication to assisting rural communities. He commended their efforts in advocating for development within these areas, with a particular focus on promoting entrepreneurship. Such initiatives, he believes, are vital in improving the livelihoods of the rural populace and empowering them to become self-sufficient.

He stated that he admires these initiatives because they demonstrate that the leaders are motivated not solely by political aspirations but also by a genuine desire to serve and uplift the people.

In his view, this approach reflects a leadership that is truly people-centred, prioritising tangible benefits over political gains. Furthermore, he expressed admiration for UPKO’s steadfast commitment to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) initiatives, recognising their ongoing effort to ensure Sabah’s rights and autonomy are upheld within Malaysia.

He commended the leadership and its President Datuk Ewon Benedick for his dedication, hard work and perseverance.

Overall, Junik’s unwavering support and admiration for UPKO stem from his belief in the party’s integrity, dedication to rural development, and commitment to Sabah’s rightful place and progress within the Malaysian federation.

Congratulations on UPKO 31st Anniversary, he cheered.
