UPKO Sepanggar year end activities designed to bring cheer

KOTA KINABALU: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Sepanggar, led by its chief Datuk Wong Thein Fook, has announced that it will be providing funds for 88 students who have excelled academically in the previous school year. These students are from schools in the Sepanggar area of Kota Kinabalu.

The funds, amounting to RM500, will go towards supporting the students' educational pursuits and the purchase of school-related materials for the upcoming school year.

This contribution is significant for the recipients, as it will aid in their further education and provide necessary resources for their academic journey, Wong said.

He expressed his gratitude to Yayasan Bank Rakyat for their generous contribution. He emphasised the importance of this support and acknowledged the efforts of the foundation, led by Datuk Phillip Lasimbang, in enhancing education through their contributions.

“This initiative by highlights our commitment in recognising and supporting students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements,” Wong said, adding that the event will be held at Manggatal Community Hall.

The date for the event will be announced soon.

In addition to providing funds for outstanding students, UPKO Sepanggar, under the leadership of Wong has planned to spread Christmas cheer in two locations at the end of the year. The festive celebrations will take place at the Bantayan Church in Inanam and the SDA Natai Church in Natai Telipok.

“The aim of these festivities is to bring joy and create a festive atmosphere during the Christmas season. UPKO Sepanggar recognises the importance of fostering a sense of happiness and togetherness within the community during this time of year.”

By organising these events at the Bantayan Church and SDA Natai Church, UPKO Sepanggar hopes to provide an opportunity for people in these areas to come together and celebrate the spirit of Christmas. The festivities will include activities designed to bring joy and create a memorable experience for all those in attendance.

Through these initiatives, UPKO Sepanggar demonstrates its commitment in supporting education and enhancing the overall well-being and happiness of the community.

By spreading Christmas cheer, the organisation aims to uplift spirits and promote a sense of unity and celebration during this special time of year.
