TENOM: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Melalap Women’s Movement, led by its Chief Rosinah Abok, recently undertook a visit to two elderly individuals in need.
Accompanied by ten dedicated members, Rosinah and her team aimed to bring comfort and support to those facing difficult circumstances. During their visit, they encountered one patient who relies on a wheelchair for mobility due to her health challenges, and another who has been bedridden with nerve issues since 2018.
Both individuals received generous monetary donations and disposable diapers to assist with their daily needs. Rosinah noted that she became aware of these patients through one of her friends, highlighting the importance of community connections in identifying those who require help.
Following this compassionate outreach, the group proceeded to visit 87 flood victims from Kg. Mandalom, providing them with essential food baskets to alleviate their hardships.
"Through these activities, we not only assist those in need but also foster a more compassionate, united, and sustainable community," Rosinah stated.
"Additionally, we are able to offer material, emotional, and physical support to those less fortunate, helping to meet basic needs such as food and healthcare."
Reflecting on her personal growth, she added, "For me, these activities provide an invaluable opportunity to develop new skills in leadership, communication, and project management. Furthermore, they enhance my work experience, particularly in the social and humanitarian sectors."
Rosinah's commitment to helping others exemplifies the spirit of the UPKO Women's Movement, demonstrating that collective action can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
