KOTA BELUD: The Entrepreneurship Education Programme and the Small Traders and Vendors Database (PPK) event held in Kampung Sayap, Kadamaian Kota Belud, on December 2, successfully brought together the community of vendors and small traders to build a strong entrepreneurial foundation.

This programme involved a strategic collaboration between Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP), and the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO).

With the primary goal of providing entrepreneurship education and increasing community awareness about financial management, business licensing, and social protection, this programme serves as a high-impact platform to empower the local community.

During the event, participants were briefed on the role of the PPK Data Collection platform in gathering strategic data on vendors and small traders. This step is essential to ensure they gain access to targeted assistance and business development opportunities.

On entrepreneur education, there is an emphasis on the need to possess a business license and efficient financial management. Knowledge about current accounts was also shared to enhance participants' capacity to manage their business finances.

They were also accorded briefings on financial assistance and grant opportunities which sparked participants' interest, opening avenues for them to take advantage of the incentives provided.

Technology tools such as the QR Soundbox and Point-Of-Sale (POS) systems were introduced to enhance the competitiveness of small traders. Demonstrations on the use of these technologies provided insights into relevant digital transformations for their businesses.

A representative from PERKESO presented information about the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SPS), explaining the importance of social protection for vendors and small traders.

KWSP also promoted a special savings scheme for small traders, ensuring a more stable financial future for participants.

The programme received a warm reception with the attendance of key figures, including Captain DataPPK, Achmad Noorasyrul Noortaip, who is also the Vice President of the Coalition of Vendors and Small Traders Associations (G3PNS), as well as representatives from the DataPPK Secretariat, PERKESO, and KWSP.

Dr. Rizoh Bosorong, Special Duties Officer to the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, (MEDC) Datuk Ewon Benedick, also contributed to the smooth running of the event.

This program is expected to increase awareness within the Kampung Sayap community regarding the importance of data collection, entrepreneurship education, and the use of technology in business. With support from various agencies, this initiative is seen as a starting point for more inclusive economic development in the area.

The comprehensive approach that combines elements of education, assistance, and technology is believed to bring positive changes to the lives of vendors and small traders in Kampung Sayap.
