Visits during festivities enhance rapport and understanding

PENAMPANG: Visits and open houses during festivities such as Chinese New Year enhance understanding and rapport among the people.

Joseph Alex Chang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Chief Penampang Division said such events had been carried out through the years and contributed to the harmony that are enjoyed by the people here.

According to him, the visit by Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick to his open house is commendable and continued a tradition carried out by previous leaders.

He said this to Nabalu News at his open house in Penampang today.

Meanwhile Carl Mosoom, the Political Secretary to the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Datuk Ewon Benedick said the togetherness among the people from diverse backgrounds are a source of great pride as they come together to celebrate Chinese New Year.

According to him this is a testament to the harmony and diversity that thrives in Sabah, and Malaysia as a whole.

According to him, the Dragon Lunar Calendar year, which is also known as the Golden Year of the Wood Dragon symbolises growth and innovation.

"In this respect my hope is that we continue to progress through comprehensive development and economic growth, especially as we navigate the second year under the Madani Government, while also acknowledging the unprecedented impact of the pandemic,"he said.

Also present during the event was the Penampang Member of Parliament, Datuk Ewon Benedict and Kapayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang as well as other community leaders.
