TAWAU: A vote for her and Pakatan Harapan (PH) is a vote for a new government and a new Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said PH candidate for P190 Tawau Datuk Christina Liew.
She said the then PH Government was barely given a chance to succeed the first time around before when the people voted for change in 2018.
Speaking at a political ceramah event at the Village Boy's Cafe on Saturday, Liew said : "Your vote matters to determine who is most likely to be our new PM and whether that PM remains UMNO or whether it is Dato' Seri Anwar for PH.
"Give PH a chance to form the government in this election. Give us a chance to create a better future for this country. Your vote can make a difference to future generations."
Liew, who is also the incumbent MP, said she has served Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) for the last 22 years.
"I am a PKR loyalist and have not defected to any other party. I have not wavered despite being asked to leave PKR and offered 'rewards'," she said to the applause of the crowd.
She stressed that her vision is to create a beautiful, modernised and developed Tawau with a Harapan government, adding that her mission, when re-elected as MP, is to :
To spur socio-economic growth and boost the digital economy through the creation of business and industrial hubs.
To improve educational facilities in primary and secondary schools with funding from the Federal Government.
To pursue Sabah's 40pc special grant entitlement.
To develop major infrastructure like roads and bridges, for example, to seal Jalan Sin Onn Tiku for the benefit of oil-palm smallholders.
To expedite the completion of the delayed Tawau Dam.
To continue addressing the drainage and flood woes through the Tawau Flood Mitigation Project.
To ensure Tawau General Hospital would become a specialist major hospital with the number of specialist services increased from 15 to 49.
To establish the Tawau Pangolin Sanctuary as a new tourism product.
At the "Bangkit Rakyat" programme in Merotai (Kalabakan parliamentary constituency) on Saturday, Anwar called on the people to choose leaders who are experienced like Christina Liew in Tawau. "Dia ada pengalaman (She has experience)," he said.
